Should condoms be distributed in schools?

             Do you like the thought of telling your parents that you are pregnant or have contracted HIV? I didn't think so, but did you know that condoms are a way of preventing those issues if you are sexually active? In a society, that promotes sex, through the use of music videos, internet, television shows, news, etc it is highly likely that teenagers are sexually active. If a parent in America believes that their teenager is still a "virgin," in most cases they are mistaken. More than one million Americans are being infected with HIV alone each year, and more than twelve million other sexually transmitted diseases are being "shared" in the United States alone, which proves that it is highly crucial to have effective measures of preventing such diseases. An inexpensive, almost one hundred percent safe way of preventing STD's not to mention, unwanted pregnancies are condoms. I believe that schools should provide teenagers with condoms because they are a means to practicing safe sex. Most of the teens that become pregnant or have STDs come from low backgrounds and are less likely to buy condoms, because they either cannot afford it, or don't know about it, which is why schools should give out condoms. Nearly three out of ten people are sexually active, that would mean that in our class alone about two of us are.
             I'm sure most of you know that condoms are a made of a rubber that fit over the "man erected penis." It works by preventing the man's sperm and infection to going out into the female's body. Many people feel that condoms are sending a negative message to teenagers, by telling then "here is a condom, go have sex." No, in fact condoms do just the opposite, they remind teenagers of the dangers involved with sex, and if they still wish to have sex they have a protective measure with them.
