Diets and Americas Way to keep up Fat

             The top ten Chronic diseases, including heart disease, diabetes and cancer, are all customarily associated with or aggravated by being overweight. In the United States we have so many different choices as to what new diet we can choose for the week, plus the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) also a specific diet we should adhere too. The diets we choose from are often influenced through the media. Many of these diets that we succumb to we easily gain all the weight back after going off of it, this happens due to the lack of proper dietary education and exercise. I will present specific guidelines set forth by these so-called diets and explain research findings of the diets health advantages and disadvantages. I will demonstrate how as a culture we are weight obsessed but yet more than two-thirds of the population is overweight and one-third of the group is obese. I will provide examples of how the media plays a huge part in society's weight loss and gain. I will illustrate the cultural pressures we encounter to be thin. I hope to supply enough information to prove that with proper diet, exercise and education through media we can achieve a majority of population to eat and live healthy at a weight that is medically considered normal.
