Hamlet

             In reading the story of Hamlet, the primary conflict in the story is man vs. self. In the play, Hamlet is faced with feeling vengeance for his father's death and the mistreatment of his father when he was living. Hamlet at one time, viewed love as stable when his father was living. Soon after his father died and his mother remarried the King's brother, Hamlet viewed loved as being brief. Hamlet grew to hate Gertrude (his mother) for remarrying shortly (approximately 2 months) after his father's death. Hamlet's view of love affected his relationship with Ophelia (a woman truly loved). He made himself believe that Ophelia's love for him was untrue. He knew Ophelia really loved him and he really loved her as well. He knew her love was not brief. He was scared her love would change for him just as her mother's did for his father. He distanced himself from her and when she died, he later confessed of his love for her.
             Hamlet sought out revenge of his father's death. He accused his mother of helping his uncle, Claudius kill his father. This belief brought about coldness between him and his mother. Hamlet confronted his mother and accused her of conspiring with his uncle to kill his father. His mother convinced him that this was untrue. After taking with his mother, he was convinced that she did partake in his father's death, but he still feel betrayed by her for remarrying so soon. Hamlet tries to make his mother feel sorry for her actions. Gertrude, realizes that her actions were wrong and was convinced by Hamlet to leave him. Hamlet persuaded his mother his uncle killed his father. Gertrude took allegiance with her son, which marked that she is on his side and does not listen to her husband anymore now believing that he killed her husband.
