Is it because things come easier to them or because they may have a pompous attitude? The rich are more likely to be well fed and slow and god doesn't favor that. This makes the reader wonder why the rich are viewed so badly. The biblical illusions in this essay bring disdain to the rich. Several short matter of fact sentences are used to show a point ( Line 11) and are followed by longer descriptive sentences which back this point up with examples. You can tell this by his repeated reference of God and sin. Forster also uses a unique way of manipulating his sentences. Forster has a negative view towards the ownership of his Wood. Forster uses these biblical references to show a chain reaction between owning property, getting rich, and not getting into heaven. He also uses rhetorical questions and short sentences to convey his point to the reader. His negative word choice shows this. The use of Mathew 19:24 shows how hard it is to get into heaven if you are rich. Biblical illusions also convey this attitude by showing Forster's want to get into heaven and how hard it is to do that if you are rich, which ownership may lead to. This is such a burden to him because of his religious affiliations. He uses several rhetorical questions to get the reader thinking.
