Similarities between China, Germany, and the Soviet Union
The events that occurred in China under Deng Xiaoping 's rule are similar to the events that occurred in Nazi Germany under Hitler's rule and the Soviet Union under Stalin's rule to a great extent. Successful dictatorships use many techniques to win their country's support. Propaganda, indoctrination, controlled participation, direction of popular discontent, and force and terror are all commonly used in this form of government; and all are techniques the leaders of those three countries used time and again. All of the media, such as radio and newspapers, was altered to portray the governments as being successful and honora
Children were exposed to the communist and fascist ideas at young ages to ensure continued government support. Any citizen who was believed to be a counterrevolutionary was arrested, imprisoned and killed. One problem the governments did face was that of those who did not believe or did not support their ruler's ideas. Any citizen who disobeyed or spoke against government policies was beat, tortured, exiled and eventually most were killed. The solution: direction of popular discontent and the use of force and terror. No information that could possibly uncover the government's truths was allowed to be exposed. In conclusion, all great dictators used the techniques described above, and all had great success while in control. In the Soviet Union, Stalin maintained power through force and fear. After the Tiananmen Square incident, the Chinese leader placed the blame on the thousands of college students; saying that they were the villains. Furthermore, the leaders of the countries began to include their beliefs and ideas into the nation's schools and youth programs alike. If civilians still refused to believe the ideologies of their leaders, the governments would try to put the blame on others. However, while all of these techniques were used regularly throughout the government's rule, the most common technique used by all dictators was the use of force and terror.
