Honesty vs. Dishonesty

For my response, I am going to discuss about the movie title Waking Ned Devine. Furthermore, I am also going to briefly name the important characters and explain their role in the movie. The names include Jackie O' Shea, Annie O' Shea, Michael O' Sullivan, Jim Kelly, and Lizzie Quinn. Jackie O' Shea and Annie O' Shea are both retired couples living in a small Irish town. Michael O' Sullivan is a very close friend of Jackie. Jim Kelly is the lotto man who writes the check for the person that is holding the winning ticket. Lizzie Quinn is a greedy, mean, and sour old woman who ride on her wheelchair throughout the entire movie. The outcome of dishonesty result in a reward and the outcome of honesty result in severe punishment. In the movie, Waking Ned Devine, Annie O' Shea want Jackie O' Shea to deliver chicken dinner to Ned and Jackie soon discover that the winning ticket is held by Ned Devine. In addition, he also discovers that Ned was dead due to a heart attack that the excitement was too much for his heart to handle. Jackie is shock to find the ticket, but did not know what to do at first. Jackie rumor to his closest friend Micheal O' Sullivan about the winning ticket and he is also thrill to hear

Next is where honesty rolls in because Lizzie does not believe that Jackie and Michael is doing the right thing and she believes that if she notify the lotto man on time, then she will be rewarded handsomely to herself but it does not seem like it. In the process of doing so, Jim drove past the phone box where Lizzie is and almost ran it over. Also, I would have to think about what that person would do with the money? On the other hand, being honest is the right thing to do but in Lizzie's case it's not because she wanted to create chaos and she got punished because of it. In conclusion, I believe that Jackie and his fellow villagers are doing the right thing even though they are dishonest individuals but everybody in life wants to be wealthy and have what ever they want. Jackie believes that when Ned is holding the ticket freely in his hand, he thinks that it's a sign of freedom and happiness for him from Ned. Jackie brought the check to the Pub and everybody celebrated with happiness and joyfulness. But the most important thing I have to remember is not to be greedy with the money and put it to waste. I have always been honest with my parents, which gets me away from problems and any form of punishments. Jackie than rode along with Jim and made him cruise for a long period of time, so that Michael can get to Ned's house and play the role of Ned. If I was Jackie, I would do the same exact thing even though I'm stealing somebody else's winning ticket to become rich due to their death. But then he swerve at the last moment causing an incoming van to swerve also and hit the phone box which launch Lizzie into a long suspended free fall over the cliff to the sea below. While Lizzie is on her way to an outlying phone box that presumably works so that she can call Jim and create a horrendous disaster for Jackie and his fellow villagers. After arriving at their destination, Michael who is playing the role of Ned, spoke to Jim about the winning ticket. In the church scene, Jackie delivers a well crafted monologue for Ned.
