Was Charls Dickens David Copperfield

             David Copperfield is regarded as one of Charles Dickens's best novels (Long 495). In his life he completed fourteen novels, and an unknown number of essays, short stories, and sketches. During his day, he appealed to all levels of society, but especially the growing middle class of England (Magill 743-744). Dickens is considered one of England's best fictional writers, best known for his visually drawn out characters. He loved to exaggerate his characters, alter the details of their lives, or to change them entirely (Gellar 1). Many literary critics believe that Charles Dickens's novel David Copperfield is autobiographical.
             Dickens had an excessive imagination. He was able to make stories out of ordinary experiences that were so often overlooked. He loved to describe people and objects with very much detail. His writing was very sensitive, and often would make it's readers either laugh or cry.
             David Copperfield was born at Blunderstone, in Suffolk, England six months after his father's death. He spent the early years of his life with his mother, Clara Copperfield. His stepfather did not like him, so he sent him off to salem house, which was a wretched school in London, under the headmaster, Mr. Kreakle (Magill 191).
             Mr. Kreakle was a frightening man. He was notorious for beating the children.
             "I should think there never can have been a man who enjoyed his
             profession more than Mr. Kreakle. He had a delight in cutting at
             the boys, which was like the satisfaction of a craving appetite (Quote in Conrad1).
             David was able to pull through school with the help of two friends: Tommy Truddle, and James Steerforth. David returned home from school when he received the news that his mother and her infant so nahd died (Harris 3).
