Telemarketing has become a significant trend in the American economy today. People have mix feelings about this new trend. Should telemarketing be illegal? Those who believe that telemarketing should be made illegal may argue that it intrudes in our family time. However, I think that telemarketing should be encouraged because it provides job opportunities, save shopping time, and people can learn about a new product in the market.
             First of all, I believe that telemarketing should be encouraged because it provides job opportunities. Telemarketing companies give a lot of people opportunity to work such as students, retired and disabled people that need a job. A disabled friend of mine that suffers damage in her legs is now working in the telemarketing business. Statistics revealed that nine out of ten students in the actuality are working in the telemarketing business. Therefore, telemarketing is contributing to the countries economy because it is given a lot of people work. The Time magazine has revealed in an economic report that telemarketing appeared as the fourth most common job in the country. Consequently, if this service is banned, it will end with a massive increase in unemployment.
             Another reason why I believe that telemarketing should be encouraged is that it saved us shopping time. Telemarketing allows people to buy products from home; instead of going out to stores. Statistics revealed that more than sixty percent of disabled people prefer buying products from the comfort of their houses instead of risking getting hurt in crowded areas. Some times consumers like my self don't have time to go to the stores because of the many priorities that we have in life. According to a poll taken by a consumer magazine, it found that 70% of purchases over the phone are safer than purchases from stores. Buy products or services over the phone save you a lot of time; time that we can use to do another important thing.
