MOTORCYCLE MECHANIC
The occupation I chose to write about it being a motorcycle mechanic. I mainly picked this topic because after high school I plan to go to school to be a mechanic and doing research would help me get more information about it. I think this would be a good career choice for me because I already know tons of information about this subject. As a motorcycle mechanic I would work on motorcycles, atv's, snowmobiles, and other small engine machines. I would repair them or put performance modifications on them. There are some schools in the united states that teach these skills and the most popular one would me Motorcycle Mechanics Institute or MMI
They mainly work a 40 hour week consisting of 5 days a week. If you ask me, this is all worth is when you get your job done and get to test the machine that you were working on! A motorcycle mechanic is the best paying job out there or even close. Working conditions in the shop can often be noisy when equipment is being used. These courses take 12 weeks and 300 clock hours. When you first go to the school you must attend the Motorcycle Technician Prerequisite Course which takes 33 weeks and 825 clock hours. You can choose to take one of these courses or all of them. But for me it is something I would enjoy doing everyday and the pay would get me through life. I wouldn't fret going to work everyday because motorcycle are something I love being around. Mechanics that work in larger shops often receive benefits such as paid vacation, sick leave, and even work-related training. They have 2 schools, one in Orlando Florida, and one in Phoenix Arizona. There is currently 350 employed motorcycle mechanics in the state of Michigan and they expect this to rise to 480 in the year 2010. Tools can be dangerous and mechanics risk injury while performing their job. This teaches you the basics about engines, transmissions, chassis, trouble shooting and so on.
