Oliver Twist

Charles Dickens created many unique characters in his novel, Oliver Twist. There are a variety of different personalities portrayed, including many evil characters, and also several virtuous ones. Fagin, Sikes, and Monks are among the evil characters. Oliver, Rose, Mr. Brownlow, and Mr. Losberne are some of the good characters.
The virtuous characters have good personalities, and are passionate and respectful to Oliver. Oliver is an innocent child that is treated with cruelty by the evil characters throughout the novel. In the end, Mr. Brownlow adopts him. Although Oliver had to suffer a touch childhood, he has a happy and satisfying conclusion in the story. Rose is a compassionate woman that ends up being related to Oliver. Mr. Brownlow is a leader and benefactor to Oliver. When he adopts him, they move with Mr. Grimwig and Mr. Losberne near the church where Harry Maylie leads. Nancy is involved in Fagin's gang, but undergoes incredible changes as the novel progresses. She dies while protecting Oliver, which shows the nobility she had despite some of her bad experiences. These are some examples of the virtuous characters and what happens to them at the end of the novel.
The evil characters in Oliver Twist are dishonest, hypocrites, coldhearted, and selfish. Sikes is a bad character that is a member of Fagin's gang. He beats Nancy, his lover, to death. When he pictures her eyes in his head, he accidentally hangs himself at the end. Fagin, the leader of the gang, is sentenced to death at the end of the novel for his many crimes. Monks is a very immoral man, and eventually is sent to an American prison where he dies. The greedy Mr. Bumble and Mrs. Corney confess to concealing Oliver's history, and are denied the right to ever hold public office again. All of these evil characters are punished in the end either by death or in another way for their wrong actions.
