Theme in Mending Wall

In the poem "Mending Wall," the author Robert Frost conveys the theme of "good fences make good neighbors" through some of the statements in his work. The poem shows that even though fences are not natural, men need fences to live happy lives. The poem states, "Something there is that doesn't love a wall, that sends the frozen-ground-swell under it, and spills the upper boulders in the sun." This statement demonstrates how unnatural walls are because the boulders that make up the wall keep getting knocked down. The poem also expresses, "And on one day we meet to walk the line and set the wall between us once again. We keep the wall between us as we go." After the wall gets knocked down, the two neighbors get together to repair ir. One can assume that by repairing the wall, the two neighbors are preserving their relationship, not to mention privacy, by fixing

The neighbors build the wall to have a larger sense of privacy. It is with the statement, " He moves in darkness as it seems to me/Not of woods only and the shade of trees," that one can convey the theme of this poem. " It is understood that it is unknown to the speaker who or what makes the gaps in the wall, nevertheless, the neighbors come time and time again to mend the walls. " It is understood that the speaker knows so little about what knocks over the wall, that he comes to thinking that it is something supernatural, like elves. The neighbors repair the walls against the will of nature because they need the wall to live happily. " Even if the wall is not really necessary, it gives a sense of security to the neighbors. He is all pine and I am apple orchard. I could say 'Elves' to him, but it's not elves exactly. It is stated that "There where it is we do not need a wall. Because the speakers neighbor is redundant in his statement- "Good fences make good neighbors"-, the speaker keeps his speculations to himself. " Even though the speaker finds no apparent reason for building the wall, he still does it. According to the narrator's neighbor, "good fences make good neighbors" a statement which remains relevant as people demand privacy, and do not bother to reflect upon what it is that they are "walling in or walling out," an action not present in nature. the wall that keeps them apart from one another. The speaker says "Before I built a wall I'd ask to know what I was walling in or walling out.
