Throughout Ernest Hemingway's novel, THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA, three specific themes are developed. To begin with, Santiago is compared as the christ figure. Moreover, the good and bad aspects of man's relationship with nature. At last, Santiago's illistration as the Hemingway hero. As it is presented while Santiago in the process of catching a fish announces, " I shouldn't have gone out so far fish, neither for you nor for me.
