Suitable is successful-the setting of The Cask of Amontillad

             I am writing to discuss the setting of The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe. I found the setting in the story special and worth learning. I would first talk about what the setting of this story is, and then about why I consider it special.
             First of all, I would talk about the setting. Background description should be detailed and precise, in order to carry out the atmosphere of the event. In paragraph 4, the setting of the story is brought clear to readers:
             It was about dusk, one evening during the supreme madness of the carnival season, that I encountered my friend. He accosted me with excessive warmth, for he had been drinking much. The man wore motley. He had on a tight-fitting parti-striped dress, and his head was surmounted by the conical cap and bells.
             And the description on the "bell" follows on paragraph 26:
             ...and the bells upon his cap jingles as he strode.
             From these, readers can have a glimpse of the background of the story. What was the time of the story? One evening during the carnival season. What was the event? Montresor encountered his friend, Fortunato. Then something is wrote to describe how Fortunato dressed-wearing motley and a conical cap with bells-and how he or his action sounded-the bells jingled when he moved. Here, readers will have a basic idea of the event. Readers can then know the event; they can see the event and they can hear the event.
             Not only the visual and auditory senses were used to make the story real, the touching sense was also involved:
             ...Fortunato possessed himself of my arm... (par. 23)
             ...and this time I made bold to seize Fortunato by an arm above the elbow. (par. 51)
             Through these sentences, readers can feel the touch between Mortresor and Fortunato, which further portray the relationship between the two.
