US Civil War

The existence of United States of America as a separate independent country was declared during the American Revolution of 1789. Thus, Americans still had to fight for their independence in the War of 1812 against Great Britain. This war was considered to be America's second Revolution. And due to the expansionist issues over slavery after the Mexican-American War the conflict broke into a Civil War that devastated the Southern states. Many consider the Civil War to be the Third American Revolution, which is a reasonable point due to the settlement of the argument of abolition of slavery during this war.The main reason that started the Civil War was the secession of Southern states from the Union in 1860-1861, after the election of Abraham Lincoln as president. Thus the battle fronts organized on both eastern and western sides of Appalachian Mountains and along the Atlantic coast of the states. Northern forces were much superior in numbers, equipment and supplies that were provided by the industrialization of the region and extensive railroad system. South had the only advantages of fighting on the home grounds and fighting a defensive war. In the course of battles Union naval fleet held a blockade of the Confederate shores, thu

On the contrary, war provided vast contracts with government for the manufactures of equipment and arms for military. And Lincoln agreed to issue the Emancipation Proclamation reluctantly, as a necessary measure to achieve his aim in the war. Therefore, in 1863 the Women's National League was established to promote the freeing of slaves and at the same time to win more rights for the women suffrage. Even though Slavery has been abolished, there were many setbacks after the war. Another critical issue for the South appeared to be failure to gain support from European powers, especially England that depended on imports of raw cotton from the Southern states. Thus Lincoln established a common cause for his armies to fight for. But Lincoln's aims were met and soon Congress was to decide at what conditions southern states would be readmitted to the Union. Civil War proved to be the bloodiest war that US experienced so far, but the end was reached by May of 1865. But also, common laborers and immigrants from the North feared that freed blacks will migrate north and then create more competition for the jobs. After the Civil War ended, North was on the way of further, more vigorous, industrialization, with its economy almost unaffected. A lot of Northerners just wanted to punish Southern states for secession. It would be his pleasure not to free any slaves at all if that was an option, but he would free all of them if need arose. Thus Third American Revolution was finished, securing the independence of black population in all territories of the United States by the Amendment to the Constitution. But due to being educated, as most soldiers in the Civil War were, a lot didn't want to free any black population, basing their view mostly on racial reasons.
