Drunk Driving

Drunk driving is a big problem in California today, as well as the rest of the
country. There is nothing more eye opening than witnessing, or being a victim to
an automobile accident. It is proven that the percentage of drunk driving on the
road has gone up in the past years, in seventeen different states. This also
makes me think that the battle to stop drunk driving is failing.
Whether it be a drunk driving accident or just a fatal car accident, it still
has the same effect on families. Drunk drivers on the road who are not able to
function correctly, are risking the lives of innocent victims. The consequence
of drunk drivers should be so high, that people think twice before doing it. For
instance if someone is killed in the incident they should be locked up for life,
with no bail set. If you get a D.U.I., you should mandatorily suspend drivers
license and get taken to jail that night with bail set at $25,000.
It has though came to conclusion that due to the efforts of avoiding groups
like the MADD, the penalties and consequences of driving under the influence of
alcohol and drugs have gotten much stiffer. The highest alcohol level was 0.1%
and the lowest was 0.05%. Now drivers are considered legally drunk when their
blood alcohol level is 0.08%. Alcohol related accidents are so prevalent, it is
estimated that 40% of all persons in the united states will be involved in a
traffic mishap blamed on alcohol at some point in their lives.
Never take anything for granted because you never ever know if you will be
killed by a drunk driver, or even somebody not paying attention, or messing
around in a car. I have also learned from last summers past experience with
three of the best kids at Lincoln High School to always be friends or
acquaintance with people at your school because you never know who you might
lose. Sometimes people don't take others peoples feelings and actions into
