Teen Suicide
Suicide is a big issue for teenagers. Weather its slitting your wrists, hanging yourself, or even shooting yourself with a gun either way you're its suicide. A lot of teens are driven to suicide by problems in the home at school and even problems with themselves not being able to face the real person they are. Suicide in teenagers has increased dramatically over the years. Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of deaths from ages 15-24 years old and the 6th leading cause of deaths from ages 5-14 years old. Teenagers experience strong feelings of stress, confusion, self-doubt, pressure to succeed, financial uncertainty, and other fears while growing up. Most teens feel suicide is the solution to all their problems and stress when they are only making a life of stress and hurt for the people around them. They may think that's the way out but its not. Depression is the number one cause of suicides which is a mental disorder that can be cured. There are many signs of pre suicide. These symptoms are; complaining of being a bad person, giving verbal hints with statements, giving away favorite possessions, cleaning his or her room, throwing away important belongings, etc. If they become suddenly cheerful after a period of depre
Boys usually use weapons to hurt themselves on the outside. My opinion on teen suicide is there is no reason a teenager should have such a desire to kill themselves. A lot of teens will put bullets in a gun or even sharpen a knife but are to scared to even act on it. They will just put the gun or knife down and walk away. When the fact is most teenagers are scared, they think suicide is so easy when it comes down to it they try but rarely succeed. Parents should be the reason they change their minds or the reason they get their lives back on track. Wishing to be dead, thinking about suicide, or feeling helpless and hopeless on how to solve life's problems those signs that a teen may be at risk. Beyond thoughts of suicide, actually making a plan or carrying out a suicide attempt is even more serious. Other teenager's weather it's at school or just in your community are major reasons teenagers feel depressed or upset. Thinking about suicide goes beyond normal ideas teens may have about death and life. 90% of teenagers that have committed suicide have admitted to the fact that their parents, friends and people around them just simply didn't understand them. In a recent high school survey 60% of students have thought about killing themselves and only 9% have actually tried at least once. There is prevention and there is a way out, you just have to make sure you catch them in time. A lot of teen's excuses for not getting help are because of denial.
