This following report will outline EEO (Equal Employment Opportunity); it's concepts, benefits, barriers, successes, failures and if it needs to be improvedEEO stands for equal employment opportunity. It caters for all people no matter their gender, race, disability, colour, political opinion, religion or ethnicity. EEO is a collection of laws, which eliminates discrimination and promotes equal employment opportunities for all in a workplace. It basically gives everyone a "fair go" (www.oeeo.wa.gov.au). EEO caters for four main target groups, which include, people with impairment/disability, indigenous, people from non-English speaking backgrounds and women. The EEO legislation ensures that everyone has equal access to employment and its benefits. In the Macquarie dictionary, the term of discrimination "is the drawing of distinction". It is an action that is very prejudicial, which involves unexamined ideas and beliefs of people and or groups. Discrimination is illegal and also results in limiting that available talent and skills. Basically businesses needs to adapt to cultural change and accept and realise work place diversity together with EEO can create a workforce which is productive and imagination, which is due to the sharing of diversity backgrounds, perspective, knowledge and styles. In this case it is an action that takes positive steps to achieve equal employment opportunities for women. (Appendix )Last of all for people from culturally diverse backgrounds, their representation had increase in the public sector from 4. the "Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld)" is a Queensland State legislation. These include the "Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cwlth)", the "Sex Discrimination Act 1985 (Cwlth)", the "Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission Act 1986 (Cwlth)" and the "Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cwlth)". This was considered a good improvement.
