The meaning of being American can have very many meanings. To be an American means so much more than just to be born here, it means freedom. Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of choice. To be an American means to have a dream, a goal, and a desire. To be an American means to be diverse, without discrimination.
             An American is someone who is patriotic who shows love for his or her country and for others. Americans has been envied since they have evolved. So many people from all over the world chose to be an American to live a better life. That is why Americans come in different colors. Being an American has been a better life for most people, but of those who are unfortunate has suffered even more. Some people encounter racism, which denies them from succeeding. Racism is still a problem in America and will be for a long period. Sometimes having such luxury is not always good. In the 20th century, Americans have changed dramatically. From Americans abuse of technology, to there approach and appearance upon others. Americans have a reputation of being lazy and rude. Americans tend to think they are better than others are and that they deserve first class treatment. Although they have great pride in their country, Americans has built a personality that portrays a negative image on others.
             The meaning of being an American can be summed up in many words. I feel that one word that stands out is freedom. Americans live in very much freedom. Everyone should be proud to be an American.
