             Divorce; Are the Children really the victims?
             Presently the divorce rate is increasing at a surprising rate, and close to 50% of children is growing up in a single parent environment. One out of every two marriages today ends in divorce and many divorcing families include children. Many parents forget how important the children are and disregard how they're feeling because they're so caught up with themselves. However, some parents feel so hurt or overwhelmed by the divorce that they may turn to the child for comfort or direction. Children often believe they have caused the conflict between their mother and father. Many children assume the responsibility for bringing their parents back together, sometimes by sacrificing themselves. I chose the topic of divorce because I just recently went through this 2 years ago with my parents. Even though divorce for the child or even the parent is a hard thing to go through sometimes it's for the better. My parents just didn't get along even though they loved each other. Their divorce was something that just had to be done, and even though it's harder to maintain a steady relationship with both of them it was for the better. I have learned to cope with it and I've adjusted myself to the different surroundings. What I hope to learn and gain knowledge of from this research paper is that maybe I'll find a way to cope with this better and even just to help someone out with advice if there in need.
             In the first article "Children and Divorce" by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry says that divorce can be misinterpreted by children unless parents tell them what is happening, how they are involved and not involved and what will happen to them.
