Terri Shiavo

In my opinion Terri died fifteen years ago; everyone needs to let her go. Why? So that people could make a national case of it. Many people have involved themselves with this case including Senator Tom Delay who refused dialysis for his father because he was also in a vegetative state. Recently, he flew to Washington to try and sign a law to get the feeding tube reinserted into Terri Schiavo. The family then tried to take the case to the Supreme Court where the there again denied their request. I personally do not have a living will yet but I have told my family that if anything like that happens to me before I get the chance to make a living will please do not resuscitate me. Terri’s family asked the federal court to demand that the tube be inserted but it was denied.

When President Bush was governor in Texas, he passed a law stating that if someone was in the vegetative state, the doctor could pull the plug. Every time someone opens the television or the newspaper they see Terri’s face. I told my family that when I die I don’t even want a wake. I think most people are going to go out and create a living will now. I think the only thing good that came out of this case was that it opened the eyes of some people.
