Mozart
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, an 18th century Austrian classical composer, was born on January 27, 1756 at 8pm, in Salzburg, Italy. He was born to two very devoted parents, Leopold who was a composer and violinist, and Anna Maria Mozart. Together they had seven children but only two survived past one year old. Their first child was a girl, Maria Anna, born on July 30, 1751. Leopold became very interested in his children's education and starting teaching them, with an influence on musical instruments.
In 1782 Mozart married Constanze Weber. In 1768 he finished his first opera La finta semplice. He wrote works in each genre, and produced many compositions. As a child Prodigy, Mozart would often practice the clavier. Soon Mozart was traveling all over Italy playing for royalty, and campaigning his musical talent. He is considered one of the most brilliant and versatile composers ever; he worked in all musical genres of his time. By the time Mozart died at age 35, he had completed 41 symphonies, 27 piano concertos, 23 string quartets, 17 piano sonatas, 7 major operas, and numerous works for voice and other instruments. He left unfinished the Requiem, his first large work for the church since the c Minor Mass of 1783. In Vienna, Mozart supported his family by performing in public and private, teaching, and composing. In 1786 he wrote the first of his three comic operas, which he is best known for; Lorenzo da Ponte as librettist, Le nozze di Figaro: here and in Don Giovanni. Mozart had made his name all over Italy, and was given a job as concertmaster in the orchestra of Archbishop of Salzburg. A few years later Mozart resigned from his position due to many disagreements between him and the Archbishop. His first opera written after his residency in Vienna, Abduction from Seraglio became a success. During this period he wrote many sacred works.
