Ralph Waldo Emerson once said," that college is a time that tires not only a mans mind, but also his heart." The college experience is different for every student, some students go hundreds of miles away while others go just down the road. Going to a community college has many benefits; some of these benefits include being close to friends and family, job consistency, and cost. Going to a community college has given me a chance to stay close to my friends and family. This is important to me because of how much I value this aspect of my life, I have lived in the Rockford area my whole life, I have also grown up with many of the friends that I still have to this day. As a result of my consistent work I have learned a valuable skill out in the field the college is unable to give me. While this may work out for some employers, it still leaves the issue of finding another job for the summer close to home. I do not have to worry about room and board, travel costs, and out of state taxes. Attending a community college has allowed me to maintain the same job throughout the year. As a result cutting my expenses in half. This company has been great about working around my schedule because they know I will be available during the summer months. Between staying close to my friends and family, work, and finally cost. The only expenses I have are books and the cost per class. Community college also gives me the continuing support, the closeness to home gives my parents the chance to see me grown into the man I will become. I am definitely confident in my decision to attend a community college. One disadvantage of attending a college away from home is work. Yet I know it is up to me to choose the right one to walk through.
