Philippines:Rizal on Women

             To the young Women of Malolos (1888)
             In his letter "To the young Women of Malolos" (1888). Philippine National hero, Dr. Jose Rizal gave his views.
             In this letter, he gave his views about the teaching of the priest or friars which is different from the teachings or will of our Almighty God. He try to open our eyes. He said that the friars are deceiving us people who are ignorant.
             The friars cannot serve the people without advance payment. They are selling scapularies, rosaries, bits and other things for them to earn money. He try to tell us that because of our being ignorant, the friar can easily deceived us. We are blind in obeying their rules, we following and believe the word that comes from their mouth even though we know that those words are just words that come from their mouth not to their great heart.
             God gave us reason and the will for us to distinguish the right from wrong or just from unjust. But that blessing or gift that our Almighty God gave us is useless because we do not apply it in our life. We are blind in what is happening to us. He said that the cause of all this whims is because of being ignorant of the Filipino people, being blind in obeying the friars. Here, blind obedience is versus reason.
             Rizal told us that we must be reasonable and open our eyes, especially women, because according to him, women are the first to influence the consciousness of man. Women must bring up her children to the image of true teaching and will through the teaching of our Almighty God and not to the teachings and whims of the friars. Mother should teach their children what is good and right conduct.
