             The plot of the movie determines the effectiveness of the movie. The Hurricane tells the story of an African-American man who, after having a troubled youth, overcame this to become a top competitor for the middle-weight boxing title. His dreams are crushed when he is accused of a triple murder and is convicted to jail for three natural-life terms. When in jail, he attempts to prove his innocence by writing his autobiography. Over the years, his appeals for his release from jail are denied, which leaves him feeling discouraged. This changes when an African-American boy and his Canadian family read his autobiography and are convinced of his innocence. The family meet with Hurricane and tell him of their plans to work on his case to get him out of jail.
             This plot makes the movie effective because it is a situation people can relate to. As people can relate to it, the audience is engaged in the movie. It also plays on the emotions of the audience which adds to the effectiveness. The thing that makes this movie most effective is that justice eventually prevails with constant effort.
