Over the years, his appeals for his release from jail are denied, which leaves him feeling discouraged. This changes when an African-American boy and his Canadian family read his autobiography and are convinced of his innocence. The family meet with Hurricane and tell him of their plans to work on his case to get him out of jail.This plot makes the movie effective because it is a situation people can relate to. They also show mercy when the police officer after he threatens them, and their car goes out of control and onto the other side of the road. All the characters in this movie have been effective as they are dressed, act and behave as if they were there at the time, but some characters have been more effective than others. The characters of the movie also play a role in the movies effectives. When he is set free from prison, he shows mercy to the prosecutors and to the police officer who put him in jail - he didn't threaten them or abuse them, making him an effective character in portraying mercy. The character Rubin 'Hurricane' Carter is an effective character as he is a character the audience can connect with. There are three main characters in this movie that make it possible to see justice and mercy. As this movie is based on a true story, not everything has been re-told, but I believe that after watching this movie, I have a good understanding of the life of Ruben Carter. He shows the hardships of being an African-American who cannot read, and what you can achieve by asking for help. In the movie, they also show mercy as Lesra did, when they first visited him as a group. The Canadian family are a great example of effective characters.
