The Black History Faculty Recital was presented on February 15, 2005. This recital was awesome. To see the Professor's demonstrate the abilities they teach the students. This recital was problem by far my favorite and it was Good to see Dr. James and Allison show there talented. Each performance was interesting and showed something special. The first performance was perform by Timothy Chambers on alto sax and Karen Carney on Piano. The alto sax to me is the most beautiful sounding instrument I have ever heard. The performer used a tone bell, He informed us that you can make it or buy one. Persuasion was the name of the piece. In this piece it was monophonic but it did have an accompany piano part so I would say maybe polyphonic as well. This piece seemed like it was in duple meter. Also, this piece had crescendo and a minor decrescendo in the piece. The piece was filled with steps and leaps and h
Owens was the third performer and he performed the Gospel song I'll fly away. This performance improved my listen ability and made me realized how much I miss being in music. It was also great to see a live Composer in action and showing her ability. He started with an Mf and moved to a F and decrescendo throw the piece to reach a piano then back to a MfDr. This piece was very andante but moved to moderato during the performance. Written in a nice ABA patten, which means you play an A, then B, then a part of A again. Seemed to be in Quadruple meter and played very well by the Professors. The piece called Poet and Percussion was brilliant piece by Harmon Watson and Don Parker and in this one read from song great works of writing and the other added to passion and beat to it. The tempo was played in allegro fashion and was also an ABA fashion. This performance was awesome and I am glad that I was able to attended. Also had some steps and leaps and played in an andante form of tempo.
