The aztec empire

The Aztec Empire was a great empire until it was conquered by people from foreign lands. I believe that the main reason that Aztecs were conquered so easily was because they filled their own heads with fear. Fear ran throughout the minds of all the Aztecs which led to their downfall. The Aztecs had great fear of the new people that had traveled to their land all the way from Spain. The Aztecs believed Cortez himself was a god coming back to claim their land. There greatest fear was that Cortez would take Montezuma's ruling power away. The Aztecs were simple people who built empire throughout the lands of Mexico. The Aztecs were people of dark skin. They were laborers, they liked to work hard and produce lots and lots of agricultural food, who were very much so self dependent. They planted their own crops and produced food for the whole village. The Aztecs were greatly devoted to their gods. They had a certain god to praise for everything. They prayed and made sacrifices every year to the god of the crops so that they could have enough crops to feed the people. They would pray to the rain god whenever they needed rain to fall. The empire of the Aztecs spread all throughout Mexico. They were the dominant group

That had the complete opposite outcome than Montezuma had hoped for. The weapons that they carried would make it possible to injure your enemy without having to be right next to them. A new idea ran throughout the empire of the Aztecs and that was that Cortez himself was the Aztec emperor coming back to take his land back. Mexico became a land of Spain and a new empire came about. The Aztec empire was completely brought down and destroyed. The fear that ran throughout the empire was what led to the destruction of their empire. The Aztecs greatly out numbered Cortez and his men but because of their fear were not able to defend themselves properly. The Aztecs believed that a great ruler who had died long ago would return to them and take rule once more and that he would return on clouds and be of pale skin. The people were like no other kind of people that they had ever seen before. Cortez was getting restless of not being able to gather things to send back to his king back in Spain and as soon as he saw that the Aztecs had access to he went crazy. Cortez and his men were coming from Spain. Once Cortez realized the fear that the Aztecs had of him his confidence greatly grew. The fear was the greatest advantage that Cortez ever had over the Aztecs. The Aztecs got word that new people had arrived to their land. He attacked the Aztecs and demanded that they show where they had gotten the gold and other things that would be appealing to the king of Spain.
