             Obsessive Compulsive Disorder affects the lives of people everyday; but yet some individuals have never even heard of it. I think it is very important for everyone to learn the affects of OCD because of the confusion and problems it can cause.
             What exactly is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder? Well, first of all it is an anxiety disorder, which is often having an overwhelming feeling of discomfort. While having anxiety people experience sweating, a racing heart, and rapid breathing. For people who actually have a disorder it is said that the anxiety "rules" their life. Many people with anxiety disorders try to avoid the situations that cause their anxiety so they can feel good for that short time limit, but the anxiety will just return when these situations arise again. This can cause problems in a persons work, home, and social life. There are a lot of different types of anxiety disorders so it is important to understand when it is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. OCD is a brain disorder that causes problems in information processing. There are two parts to OCD, the obsessions and the compulsions. The obsessions are thoughts, images, or impulses that occur over and over again and that feel out of someone's control. The obsessions usually occur to be unrealistic. A person that suffers from OCD realizes that these thoughts are unrealistic, and they find these ideas disturbing, but they can't seem to help it. The obsessions are uncomfortable feelings, such as fear, disgust, doubt, or sensation that things need to be done in a certain way. The compulsions are certain tasks people perform to make their obsessions go away. People will make sure to perform these compulsions over and over again so that their fears will disappear.
