Robert Deniro character Leonard has no limitations besides the physical disease that he has. Although he is viewed for many years by doctors as a vegetable with no real thoughts, he really is a intelligent and fearless man. He tests a drug on Leonard and it is a success. The other doctors are shocked and it is viewed as a great achievement. He wants to give it to all the patients but the head doctor says "you underestimate the effect that Mr. Lowe has on people doctor. Where talking about money." Then everyone from around the hospital chips in their own money Dr. Sayer is able to give all the patients the drug.
