Tell Tale heart

             In the Tell Tale Heart Poe moves away from his typical gothic writing style. He chose to move away from the dreary stories to write this one. He chose a story that seemed a little more normal. In this story the narrator tells his horrible story of murder. In his story he kills his companion and then confesses to it. He him self does not fully understand his reasons for murder.
             Edgar Allan Poe wrote this short story, which later became his most famous work. He writes this story through the eyes of this mad narrator. This story was not critically acclaimed during his lifetime; this along with many others including "The Raven" became famous after his death.
             The story is technically a horror story from a first person perspective. This story really shows how a reading can put an effect on the reader. This effect on the reader will reveal their true emotions. This story really exemplifies Poe's ability to write. When he explains how he can still hear the heartbeat its like you can really hear it.
             The narrator in this story is unreliable in a way. This because while he is recounting his murders you cannot really tell how much of it is true. Though he repeats his self in the story the reader may suspect something from is odd reasoning. During his first line the narrator speaks with trepidation when he says "True nervous very dreadful nervous I had been and am."
             The odd thing about this story is that it is told from the first person point of view. The monologue is of the narrator whom has murdered someone and is very nervous about it. Eventually he is driven to confess to the murder. This inventive writing gives you a logical reason to believe in the narrator's insanity. When Poe uses this first person narrative he heightens the tension in the mind of the narrator.
