Sports Physcian

There are many careers from which to choose. Some careers are more interesting to me than others. The one that I have chosen may possibly be the career that I will pursue when it is time to choose a career. I plan to become a sports physician because I enjoy sports and I wish to pursue a career in the medical field; being a sports physician will be a good way to combine the two interests. The history of the sports physician career is relatively new, but as the participation of athletes grew, the need for sports physicians grew ("Sports" 551). The patients that I will serve as a sports physician are athletes, coaches, and general public if I have a privately owned doctor's office. Doctor Theodore Fox says, "The priorities as a sports physician would be not completely to get the athlete back to his or her sport as quickly as possible; the priority would be to let the injury heal completely before the athlete goes back in to sports participation" (- - - 70). I will be expected to help rehabilitate the athlete's injury so that he or she could get back to the sport quickly. The functions I will be responsible for are developing a program to diagnose and treat injuries (Cosgrove 117). I will try to determine the i

He or she should observe and evaluate the emotional well being of each athlete. This career, normally, is associated with a large amount of money. There are requirements for after medical school: a license of certification and two to five years of specialization. There is a list of other classes that I will take in high school: algebra, biology, chemistry, college preparatory, English, geometry, health science, humanities, physical education, physics, physiology, psychology, sociology, statistics, and trigonometry (SCOIS). I will need to know the affect the injury should have on an athlete compared to the sport he or she plays. From the first year, it pays for all of 4the college tuitions. I will also try to help make sure the equipment for the athletes is comfortable. Also I will need good hand-eye coordination, and I will have to be able to kneel and crouch with ease. Some of the profits are things such as health insurance, life insurance, and retirement benefits. From the exams I will advise the athlete on whether to lose or gain weight, change eating, sleeping, or drinking habits, and I will have to give advise on a training program to help prevent injuries that may look to be vulnerable to the particular athlete. Education plays a large role in becoming a sports physician. If I am at undergraduate school, my major should be health science.
