Based on the research involving our international expansion plan, we realized that Mexico, India, and Germany are not the exact match we are currently looking for. We have decided to expand our corporation into the country of Japan. Taking into account not only this country's economy, workforce, and other obvious variables, we have done extensive research of Japanese customs, norms, work ethics, and education variables. The information we have learned from our studies makes us more than confident in choosing Japan. With the advantage of Japan being at the heart of the Asian market, by expanding our company here, we could advance into this entire market in the future. The major reason Japan is our choice is its economy. Following America, Japan has the second largest economy in the world and second highest GNP. Japan's main export goods are cars, electronic devices and computers. Its' most important trade partner is the USA which imports more than one quarter of all Japanese exports. Even with its decrease, we still find many of these younger workers feeling their firm is the most important place in their life, and will still contribute whatever they can to the company. Many Japanese workers rarely use their vacation time to the full since they feel it is their responsibility not to abandon coworkers who are still working. They sometimes will work overtime without being paid extra since it helping their company "tribe" they belong too. 1% of Japan's population had attended university, making Japan one of the most educated countries. Another important attitude toward their work is the harmony within their company. Our product stands our for its high quality which would attract Japanese consumers. Always taking pride in every aspect of their work, we have found the Japanese to be some of the hardest working people in the world. A very important reason we chose to expand in Japan is that feel Japanese employees view their job and company in very similar ways found in our corporate culture. The life-time employment in Japan isn't based on contracts, but rather on the devotion and pride in the corporation. Especially the men are found to work too hard to maintain their private life, and sometimes are never able to spend time with their family. Workers in Japan will do anything in order to be promoted, priding in their role and history in their company. Japan's educated consumers demand products like ours which their quality standards. But unlike most cultures, business life is more important than private life in Japan.
