In the "Last of the Mohicans" Nathaniel, or Hawkeye, proves to be an adventure hero due to his bold and courageous actions. Nathaniel displays he is well adapted to his surroundings and is synchronized with nature. He uses the wilderness to his advantage while still respecting it for it is he who benefits from nature. He has great attributes like courage and bravery that allow him the title of a "hero" and his incredible fighting skills are unmatched by anyone else in the movie. Moreover, he helps them again when they are ambushed by Indians while retreating after their surrender to the French. He is a player and an adventurous one at that! There is no doubt in my mind he is an honest man with a heart of gold. He is well-rounded and is more than comfortable while firing a weapon or hand-to-hand combat. Moving targets are not a problem for him because of his excellent hand eye coordination which adds to his list of attributes. Nathaniel may very well be a great adventure hero. An incredible warrior is the perfect description when discussing Nathaniel's fighting skills. Hawkeye is able to track horses as well as humans with ease through the woods in various ways. Swimming, climbing, running, shooting, tracking, canoeing, or kissing all seem to be well under control if exercised by Nathaniel. He falls in love with Cora, the oldest sister and vows to return for her. His Indian name that was appointed to him was Hawkeye. They escape 'by chance' on canoes across the river and helps hide away the daughters behind a waterfall. He saves Monroe's daughters and Duncan from the ambush on their convoy and even goes as far as taking them to their requested destination. He seems to always be seeking an adventure with all of these quests he pursues. Hawkeye stays true to his word, like a true hero, and comes back to rescuer his love.
