Enlightenment

             The Enlightenment describes a period in the European history, in the finals of 17th century beginning of 18th. It was used for several authors that explain how they were emerging from the darkness and ignorance into a new period of illumination. They could find this light using the reason science and a respect for the humanity. Descartes, John Locke, Thomas Jefferson, Voltaire, Thomas Paine, Jean Jacques Rousseau, Denis Diderot, Immanuel Kant and others were some of those authors that wrote about the Enlightenment. This analysis is about Immanuel Kant's point of view about this period of clarification and my own ideas about it.
             Immanuel Kant in his essay explains how the humanity is trapped in its own ignorance jail. How the immaturity is causing lack of knowledge. He's trying to face us to our reality and encourage our intelligent. In the quote "Dare to know! Have the courage to use your own intelligent!" Kant is expressing that we have the courage to use our own mind. In the other words, we must think for ourselves.
             Kant also makes a reference that is difficult to individuals to accomplish. For that reason, he forces us to be strong to get the light. We must know that the dignity and worth of rational persons and the assumption that mature individuals should be capable of using their own reason and understanding. The individual's immaturity is normal for him/her. (S)he depends of others to do different things, because they are not capable to think themselves. They are dependents of others individual minds. There will always be a few individuals who think for themselves and who can teach others the spirit of independent thinking.
             Freedom is a word that expresses liberty, control of your own life. Kant used this word accompanied with the Enlightenment. They come together to explain that you must be free from the darkness and explore the clarity of your knowledge. We must communicate our necessities f...
