The show, Pimp My Ride is a half hour series in which a lucky car owner gets their raggedy car "pimped. But its not the cars that I want to focus on, but more important are the rims that purchase for their cars. Back in the 1980’s African Americans that were in the music industry weren’t too flashy as today’s artist, but without even realizing it, they started some trends that still exist today. They say “Car Magazines Rim are more than just a reading; they are the lifeblood of your car. “The price range can be from $700 to $20,000. They are extremely flashy and way less expensive than the jewelry that is purchased by music artists. Chrome rims, just like jewelry, are just for looks and grins, and to show off one’s investments. Car enthusiasts say this about rims. Now the jewelry known as platinum wasn’t exactly very popular back then. It all depends of the size, style, and who manufactured it,” (Custom). Everyone knows that those certain items didn’t cost as much as they do today, but hundreds of thousands of dollars was spent by many just to have them.

I personally feel that the music industry is the most influential industry in the world today. So by many, this particular example of a trend can be referred to as the cool thing to do or have, because it is the style today. They really add a special effect to a car, mostly allowing the car to stand out more than it would have without the rims. The goal of wearing these chains is too not only get attention from other people because of the glimmering of the jewelry, but also it shows others how much money someone is willing to spend on such things.
