Women

             The roles of American women have changed throughout the years. Long ago, women were treated like properties. They had no voice, no power, and no respect. But now women are more involved in the social world. In each year more and more women started to care about their roles in the world, they realized that they can be just as good, as creative as men. They left the style of homemaking to a more advanced place. Now, they are capable of doing more difficult jobs than men. These are the women today, more useful, more intelligent, and they made bigger contributions toward our nation.
             Women's rights, however, did not come so easily. There were many sacrifices and hardships, but at the end women achieved their long lasted dreams. They made our nation a better home, a better society, and a well-organized community. America would never be like now without the help of women. In the 1800s the women were nothing like today. They suffered from many pains and disappointments. A married woman was not allowed to own property or make a will. Young women and girls' education was limited to home skills such as cooking, weaving, and cleaning. Women like Martha Washington was lucky enough to be noticed. Other women were not equal to men. They couldn't speak freely and many women had excellent suggestions that were ignored.
             As time passed by, more and more women began influence the American society. Women fought bravely and strongly for their rights. They followed the footsteps of some well-known first ladies like Dolley Madison and Eleanor Roosevelt. Women started to gain power by volunteering in community services. Time flies when people are busy with their work.
             As the winters passed and summers began, women changed to a more important role in our everyday life. Now, there are many giant corporations that are run by women. Women represented some men in many jobs such as lawyers, teachers, and doctors. Wom...
