Sympathetic Lady Macbeth

             We all have our own thoughts about a person, based on our own opinions and beliefs. People in our society today have a tendency to think negatively. For some reason when we think of something or someone, our initial thoughts are usually negative. In the play Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare we see a very complex character, which is Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth changes throughout the duration of the play. She is initially a cruel and treacherous woman planning the murder of King Duncan. Later on guilt overtakes her and she becomes weak and softhearted. So when you think about her, you think of a cruel and evil woman and you wouldn't fell sorry for her. This essay will prove that we should actually feel sorry for Lady Macbeth and have sympathy for her.
             Lady Macbeth and Macbeth are initially a team. When Lady Macbeth first reads the letter her husband sent to her, about the witches' prophecies, she instantly wants Macbeth to become king and gain power. Lady Macbeth says "Glamis thou art, and Cawdor, and shalt be what thou art promised:" This shows that Lady Macbeth wants her husband to become, because she knows that's what he wants as well. However she considers the fact that her husband is such a gentle and caring person he would never kill anyone to get what he wants. "Yet do I fear thy nature; it is too full o' the milk of human kindness to catch the nearest way." Lady Macbeth has already concluded that the only way for Macbeth to become King is to kill Duncan, but he would never do that. So the only way this can happen is if Lady Macbeth helps her husband and motivates him to fulfill his desires. Lady Macbeth knows she has to take control now in order for them to be successful " He that's coming must be provided for: and you shall put this night's great business into my dispatch which shall to all our nights and days come give solely sovereign sway and masterdom." ...
