Crucible and modern day witch hunts

             Salem Witch Trials v. Racial Profiling Since 9/11/01
             In the play The Crucible, a group of girls in Salem accused many of Salem's residents of witchcraft, a crime at that time which carried the death penalty. There were several reasons the girls made these accusations, one was for revenge, greed, jealousy, and lust. As the trails progressed, the town was filled with paranoia and chaos. Many good and honest residents of Salem were accused of being witches. There was no real evidence for these accusations. But in America today there is a large population of Arab Americans that lived here without the fear of being threatened or persecuted because of their looks or beliefs. But after the terrorist attacks on America on September 11th, 2004 changed the public's view on Arab Americans. They are now racially profiled because of what a select group of Muslims did. They are being hurt for other people's actions and words.
             In The Crucible a small group of young women went around Salem and accused many people, some of them of being good and honorable, of witchcraft. As the trials progressed, people were accused based on how they looked, or what they said. If the person was accused and convicted the penalty was death. If you didn't go to church you were an open target to the accusations. Many innocent people were killed because of several girls' expedition to get want they wanted. Today in America analogous witch hunts are occurring but a dissimilar kind of witch is being hunted down.
             September 11th, 2001: Terrorist took control of 3 airplanes. They had a mission. That mission is to kill as many Americans as possible and as much damage as possible. These three planes crashed into the Pentagon, a field in Pennsylvania, and the World Trade Centers in New York City. These acts have made life for Muslims in America hard. People once thought of as good and nice people are now thought of as terroris
