J. R. R. Tolkien
"Little by little one travels far," is a quote from J. R. R. Tolkien. (Quotations) He has traveled far with his writings and has come to be a very successful and famous man. Tolkien is a well known writer and has written many famous pieces. Just about anyone you ask knows of him even though he died about 30 years ago. Tolkien's legend still lives on. You may have seen his name on books in libraries and book stores. J. R. R. stands for John Ronald Rueul. Tolkien was born in Bloemfontein, South Africa on January 3, 1892. (Gale) Even though he lived and was born in an African village his family was very wealthy. When he was born, one of the family's servants took Tolkien and brought him to show to the people of the village, since they had never seen a white baby before. (Gale Group) He had one brother, who was two years younger than him, named Hilary. His childhood was a bit depressing, because both of his parents had died while he was quite young. His father died of rheumatic fever and his mother died of diabetes at age thirty-four. December 1, 2003, was the world premier for The Return of the King, the last addition of Lord of the Rings trilogy. He today is buried in Wolvercote Cemetery. (Gale Group) On March 22 1916 he married Edith Mary Bratt. In the story, the characters are: Frodo Baggins, Sam Gamgee, Gandalf, Merry, Pippin, Legolas, Gimli, Boromir, Aragon, Sauron, Gollum, Saruman, and Bilbo Baggins. They say that The Lord of the Rings portrays "as a symbolic moral or religious story about the battle between good and evil. When, I heard of people reading The Lord of the Rings series, it didn't sound like something that would interest me; but it really does! I think J. In the beginning Bilbo discovers a ring that is very powerful and evil because it belongs to Sauron, the antagonist of the story. " (The World Book Encyclopedia) I think Tolkien deserves to be regarded as a great British author because a lot of the books he has written have become classics and are known around the world. I really enjoyed The Fellowship of the Ring. "Several attempts have been made to explain this [Tolkien's works].
