Protect America: Buy a Gun

Crime and violence is all around us. Every where the American people turn there is violence and crime. However, there is hope for the safety and for peace of mind for the American people; in this great country we have the right to bear arms. There are those who stand up and wish to strip the American people of there right to carry a concealed weapon and protect themselves. They are the ones who do not understand the simple principles that are stemmed form our second amendment right. The principle is simple; guns stop crime and protect the people. When first looking at the issue of gun control one must ask himself this question honestly. Do guns really prevent violence? Opponents of the pro-gun movement will say "No, more guns do not equal to less crime." I beg to differ. An article entitled "A Six Shooter in Every Pot" was published in Business Weekly Magazine (August 2001) detailing the small county of Coos County, Ore. Attempts to protect themselves from crime. In the weeks following the publication the commissioner voted on a proclamation that all homes be require to have a firearm on the property. Most people would hear that and say that is madness, but it is not madness. This follows the example the example of several othe

Places that let outsiders know that the home owners have guns deter crime. Some people will ask why not just make gun laws more strict? If the guns laws were stricter then only the criminals would have guns. There is also the question of the increasing rate of gun suicides in this country. By making the gun laws more strict and making it harder for law abiding citizens to get a fire arm would mean that the only ones to have guns those who seek to get the weapons illegally. Of course firearms in the home can be dangerous if they get in the hands of young children. Guns are not to blame for this either. These are all valid concerns the way to solve these problem is not to restrict America's second amendment rights. There is proof that letting outsiders know that the homeowners have guns does deter crime. where the first to vote keep firearms in homes in 1982 after a nearby town passed a proclamation outlawing guns. The answer to the safety problem is not to take away the guns but to educate the children in safety or lock the weapons away. (Kats) What the legislature has forgotten is that second amendment right was put in place to allow American's to protect themselves in case of need. Without guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens there will be no chance that Americans can protect themselves. This country's legislations has tried to stop crime by making stricter gun laws, such as increasing the wait time that it takes for a civilian to get a permit for a gun.
