In The Mood For Love?

"Love is in the air" when Valentines Day is around the corner. But is it that true? Somehow or the other, I think that Valentines Day is just too over commercialized to be a day to celebrate love. There are just too many kill joy while going through the "process" of celebrating this so called "Love-vy dove-vy day". Valentines Day is supposed to be a day to show love, affection and care for our family, friends and partners. But now, in this modern world, it does not seem that way anymore, for families and friends are mostly wiped off the Valentines Day list leaving I always wonder. Is Valentines Day the only day we can show affection for the people we love? Do we have to be in the "mood" to love our love ones? Or celebrating Valentines Day is just following the trend because nearly every other couple in the world celebrates it? What I mean is everyone runs around on Valentines Day frothing, proclaiming their love and pledging their eternal allegiance to their love ones. If someone truly cared about you, shouldn't the feelings of "I love you" be made known to each other more often? It's certainly not necessary to present each other with a heart shaped cardboard box filled with choco

Talking about gifts, I was wandering through the mall the other day trying to find a "perfect" gift for my boyfriend. Buying presents is already expensive enough without the extra need to be listening to the non-stop complaints of the partner about it. They easily get envious with what other people have. Sometimes I just pity those guys who have partners like that! All these just kill the joy and meaning out of Valentines Day. It is so uncomfortable, especially when it is unavoidable to accidentally touch on someone's sticky limbs! Watching movies are always a popular thing to do while dating, so at the ticket booth in the cinema, you will see a very long queue of people queuing for tickets. Flocks of lovers will be flooding the shopping malls, restaurants and the cinema in pairs. Those positive words we could think of when we thought about Valentines Day could just go on and on. So she bombarded the boyfriend giving him hints and all to make sure she gets something like that for Valentines! Fortunately, she got what she wanted, if not, we wouldn't bear to think of the consequences! All these things always happen because people are competitive. Buying a gift for the significant other on this particular day is nothing more than a little something to say both parties have upheld their end of the bargain and have fulfilled their duties as ideal partners on that significant day. Come on! If you really love the person you wouldn't mind whether if the presents were expensive or not! It is the heart that counts, not the price. Finding a way to be so romantic that they wouldn't need to listen to their partners complain the day after the significant day! Praying hard to god that EVERYTHING, everything will be perfect on the day itself. This is the time when they will be scratching their heads for the perfect present to present to their partners. Somehow or the other, Valentines Day seems to be a good day for shops to earn extra revenues. But some people really do have the patience to wait for hours just to get a seat in a restaurant on Valentines Day. Hoping for the moment you leave the table.
