The lost letter
I know it is an unusual way to start off a letter, but I am afraid this will be my last chance of saying goodbye. I am not sure if you will ever get this letter, but I pray to god that you will, and that you survived this death roll. Your father and I are being held in the German camp Auschwitz, tonight will be our last night here in this "prison". Son, I want you to know how much your father and I love you, and no matter what happened, our love is something that will never change. I also want you to know, your father and I are not holding anything against you. In a desperate time like this, you had to do what you needed to do in order to survive. We understand, we also hope after this nightmare is over, you will still continue our heritage and that someday when you have you own children, you will teach them what we have taught you. Until then, you father and I will be able to rest in peace. Dear son, tomorrow will be our last sunrise. The Nazis arranged a "bath" for our group, and we all know what that is going to lead to. I am so scared so
Your father and I once tried to escape, but we were caught. I was forced to watch, after what seemed like an eternity of beating, they left him there, drowning in his own blood. Nazis threatened worse punishments if we were to escape again. She was stripped naked before our eye and beaten till her face was disfigured. Your father is exhausted; the Nazis had stripped him of his pride, his hope, and his will. Many nights I stayed up crying, asking god why this had happened to us, I never got an answer. Those who closed their eyes were shot. The next day, the SS forced him back to labour. A young girl was hanging off a stake by her wrist. My heart was broken; many of our hearts were broken. On that night, the Nazis gathered a bunch of us around. Everywhere you could smell the decay of flesh, and the stink of rotting. What had happened to the Jews, to the innocent people that died because of the Nazis, and remember.
