Abortion

Abortion is one of the most leading and most talked about issue in today's society. I picked this issue because I was once in the situation of deciding if I wanted the girl that is was with to have an abortion. I asked myself could afford a baby, and if I was ready to have one? The main question is abortion morally right or wrong? I did not know that much about it and I did not want to find out about it on the account of it happening to me. But that is how I was introduced to the issue. Many people really do not think about the abortion unless it pertains to their lives. Some common questions about abortion pop up for instance; is abortion murder, at what point is a fetus considered a person and what is the value of human life? Abortion does not only hurt the woman individually the family as a whole is affected too. The first decision a woman has to make is a personal one. It is between the woman, her physician or her counselor. The U.S. Supreme Court has answered the second decision: since 1973, a woman has the right to obtain an early abortion. Should abortion be permitted, do we as people have a right to decide what is good for others? The reason that I wrote about abortion is to inform people on the

Another reason why the issue is so controversial is because people can not practice safe sex. Abortion is legal and has been legal since the Row vs. Females that are teens and young adults are the main targets for this issue because women feel the affects of the decision greater than a man does. (Lewis and Jon) My position on this issue is against abortion and I think it is morally wrong. " (Sanger 4) The debate over reproductive freedom during the past two centuries has been about many things, race, class, and religion, the sanctity of life, human dignity, the role of women, civil rights, and the right to privacy, almost everything except reproduction. Alexander Sanger says "Having an abortion is legal and accessible is morally right, not morally wrong. The Supreme Court just sided with all women. Now if a person was going to decide to get an abortion they would have to think which is more important, human life or a person own privacy? This is why the issue is still a controversial one because many people believe human life is more important and many believe their own privacy is more important. In those rare cases, that a person is raped, the person should put their self in the situation of the fetus that is inside of them. Doesn't everybody deserve a chance to live? The baby didn't ask to be here and I feel that everything happens for a reason. Rather than settle the issue, the Court's decisions started heated debate and hurried a range of governmental actions at the national, state and local levels designed either to cancel out the rulings or delay their decision. The ruling is that a state has no right to restrict abortion in the first six months of pregnancy. " (Cartwright 4) By this statement he means that a fetus is killed the same way a normal person is killed.
