Football

Football is a sport which has played an exceptionally large part in American culture and is arguably the most popular sport in America. Football clubs, rituals and tailgating all stem from the popularity of this sport. In the sport's biggest event, the Super Bowl, millions of spectators nationwide are sure to watch the game whether they are fans of the teams or not. During the regular season, diehard football fans will even go as far as worshipping and idolizing their favorite players and teams. There is a myriad of ways in which football has affected people and there is not a place a person can travel to and not discover some form of football culture at work. While baseball is our pastime, because of football's nearly unparalleled effect on the citizens of America, it can be said that football is our passion. Whether it comes from a professional team, a college team, or even a high school team, practically everyone in America is impacted in some way by football. Football's impact on American youth can be seen very early in a child's years, but when a person enters middle school, it seems their lives are personally affected by it. In these years a student is able to play football for his

Even posters and a few simple advertisements will decorate parts of the school for a big upcoming game. I have seen this before as my best friend from North Carolina was a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers. These fans may also throw huge tailgating parties just before a game to get themselves and their friends ready for the game. Evidence of Blacksburg's penchant for football can be seen virtually anywhere within the town. Almost everyone across the nation has some sort of professional football team which they particularly like which in most cases is the team that is from where the fans live or moved from. The cheerleaders must try out just as a football player would and just like the football players, only the best will make the team. A person will usually pull for the college that they, a friend, or family member has attended. However, some people, including myself, still enjoy football thoroughly, but are not near this fanatical for football and are generally flabbergasted by such fruitless obsession over these players and teams. The influence of college football in certain parts of the United States is absolutely enormous. In their obsession with a certain team or certain players, they may decorate their house or cars in their likeness. These people, adrenalized by the fervent zeal of their friends and their classmates, will attend their team's games in an act of school spirit, and grow quite fond of their team as well as football in general. Even girls are affected by this sport as several of them will decide to become school cheerleaders. When actually attending the college, one can only imagine how great the influence of their team is on the campus. In these years rivalries can be formed between two schools, further impacting students of the school.
