The value of friendship in hamlet

             William Shakespeare's Hamlet is one of the greatest tragedies ever known. It touches the reader's heart for its dramatic structure of the play. The play is about a prince who attempts to avenge the death of his father by killing his brother which is King Claudius. During the play, Hamlet uses his actions to try to convince the people that Claudius killed his own brother by poisoning him in his ear. The opening of the scene set off the friendship between Barnardo, Francisco and Horatio. They begin to form a bond between them. Hamlet's relationships with his friends can be easily spotted during the play. Horatio is the only person that proves the loyalty and the essence of true friendship that he had with Hamlet throughout the play. His relationship with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern on the other hand represents unfaithfulness between them. There are different kinds of friendship that adapts during the play. Friendship played a big role in the play with its dialogue among true friends and false friends. Friendships did not just develop but was also shattered.
             In the beginning of the play, friendship is present between Barnardo, Francisco and Horatio. The connection between becomes stronger because of the shared experiences they had. For example: When they are outside Elsinore Castle, they all saw the appearance of a ghost that Barnardo and Francisco saw the other day and they urge Horatio to stay with them. They decided to report to Hamlet about the ghost because it seems that it was his father and his father will not refuse to talk to his own son. They swore to keep this a secret that shows how loyal they are between each other. The level of friendship between them becomes stronger and stronger as the play moves along.
