A tale of two cities

             The Charles Dickens' novel " A Tale Of Two Cities " tells the story of French Revolution from the points of view of two different cities, two different classes and two different woman. The novel is begins with the uneasiness and suspicion before the revolution and carry on telling the rise and results of the revolutionary acts.
             Charles Dickens stated the class difference very clearly in hte novel. The peasants were not able to find any food to eat, while the aristocrats spended Money for unnecessary luxuries. He explains this extreme spending on luxury as " Fra nce... making paper money and spending it." In contrary, he explains the hunger of the peasants when they tried to drink the wine that is spilled on the streets. " Some men kneeled down, made scoops of their two hands joined, and sipped, or tried to help women, who bent over their shoulders, tos ip, before the wine had all run out between their fingers."
             The two major woman characters in the story are Lucie Manette and Madame Defarge. Lucie Manette is a young lady who grew up without her mother and father. Although she is French, she was brought up in England, away from the issues of France. However, Madame Defarge was a French woman who always hated the aristocracy and so the aristocrats.
             The differences between Lucie and Madame Defarge is mainly a result of their different social classes. As an aristocrat girl, Lucie lived a pleasent life in England without having problems until she came France to rescue her father who is "recalled to life". Unlike Lucie, Madame Defarge lived a hard life in France because of the unfair conditions the peasants were subjected to and because of the phychological bringing of her sister being raped and killed also her brothe being killed by the Marqui Evrémonde.
