HRM Process at David Jones

             • I N T R O D U C T I O N •
             Some businesses believe that the employees are the most important assets of the business. Generally, the consumers come in contact with the employees and this usually brings a good or bad view of the company. Businesses need effective employees, as without them, sales can't be made and the company would be out of business. To make certain that the business is run successfully; careful consideration needs to be taken in place when employing the right people for the right job, and that they're enjoying what they're doing.
             Human resource planning is defined as the process of determining the human resource requirements of an organization and how to provide for these requirements. The human resource planning process in this report is analyzed and evaluated with regards to the management at David Jones, Mt Gravatt. The report consists of Job Analysis, Recruitment, Selection Process, Training & Development, Performance Appraisal, Rewards and Separation of Employees. An evaluation of the effectiveness of the methods utilized and suggestions in which theses practices may be improved are provided in this report.

             Job analysis is a systematic attempt to break down a job into its component tasks. David Jones is Australia's oldest department store which requires quite a number of jobs within the organisation. The departments held at David Jones consist of Ladies Fashion, Menswear, Shoes & Accessories, Cosmetics & Fragrances, Children's Wear & Toys, Homewares, Furniture, Electrical, Stationery, Books, CDs & Videos, Food and Travel Goods.
