Koby Bryant in the Media
The relationship between media depictions of athletes and actual athletes' persona is extremely complex. There are a number of interacting variables which influence who will be affected, by what material, and in what way. These include: the context in which the athlete is portrayed; the age of the viewer; and the participant's ability to differentiate between fantasy and reality. In today's society T.V and newspapers have done many different things. It has shown the world what war looks like up close. It has also taught children to read, write and do so many other things. Although the television and articles have brought many positive aspects to the United States, it also has a downfall to it. These two contexts are controlled by a higher archy defined by the media. It has the capacity to give people the wrong idea about individuals, situations, and etc. through a change in content, shows and writing. There is a quote that defends the truth behind the curtain and is stated, "the first rule of the media is to make money; ethical conduct is a by-product of luxury. If they go bankrupt, then their ethical conduct is irrelevant." This is the idea that viewers are dependent on strangers whom thrive for nothing but wealth and capitalism,
Through out the new unraveling arrest, Bryant is continuing to be portrayed as a possible victim in the drama. And in result, a wealthy black township was destroyed and hundreds of black people were murdered. Indicating that as time unravels and trial dates become in progress, the development are also kept in heavy rotation on the network news and various talk shows. He is a man that has an intense desire to succeed in all aspects of life. An example would be the papers publishing the things Kobe was doing to get in the good graces of his wife, such as buying her a million dollar plus purple diamond ring for standing by his side when he needs her most. Only about one-third of the coverage actually analyzed by media watch went into detail about the fact that the sheriff that arrested Bryant had sidestepped the normal flow of command and was authorized to arrest Bryant by a judge before the district attorney had even decided which, if any, charges to bring. Not only his skills at excelling in the game of basketball but also his passion for being involved in the community and helping others. We only know their carefully rafted images, created and cultivated by sneaker reps, personal representatives, and marketing firms. It's only obvious that it can't be denied that in the United States black men have been accused, convicted, jailed and have received the death penalty with impunity when the alleged victim has been white. In out current era, the physical backlash will most likely only be traceable to Bryant, who will face jail time, fines, civil suits and loss of income and endorsements. The article states, "On August 6 more than 400 reporters, photographers and producers flooded into Eagle to cover the Bryant's first appearance in court. It was necessary to weigh all of the parts of the case. After the announcement of Bryant's arrest on July 6, 2003 the media began a grueling analysis of Kobe and the accusations surrounding him. " having this statement be quoted from a well-respected man, who is liable of Bryant's character, is undoubtedly reliable.
