Super size me

The documentary, Super Size Me, was not only created to show the harmful effects of eating fast food, namely McDonald's. Morgan created the film to show that fast food has become a fixture in our country's culture. McDonald's is also starting to influence other cultures in other countries as well. The movie showed that McDonald's, along with other types of fast food, can directly effect a person's health. This repetitive eating of these foods can cause cholesterol issues, liver issues, chest pains, obesity, and seem to be acting as a drug. Morgan frequently pointed out that throughout his day, he felt depressed and sad, but when he ate his

However, it seems that the lack of McDonald's can create the same mood fluctuation as the lack of nicotine. meal from McDonalds, he once again, felt that he had energy and all together, became a happier person. There have been laws passed, making it illegal to smoke in any public place. Although these two can be linked, in the way they effect your attitude, one is much more socially acceptable then the other. Morgan gained over twenty pounds and experienced various health issues from eating McDonald's three times a day, for thirty days, but a person could smoke six cigarettes a day, double that of his meals, for sixty days, doubling the time he spent eating those meals, and still not experience the same extensive health issues. Although it does have other effects such as lung and throat cancer, it would take many, many years of smoking six, seven, eight, or even more cigarettes a day for these problems to occur. This shows that the food was directly effecting his moods. So why is there so much attention on the smoker, and not so much on the fast food eater? In time, maybe societies will take a look at the health risks that fast food over eating can cause. The law is spreading from city to city. However, it is still socially acceptable to eat fast food. Its hard to believe that a simple hamburger is as addictive as the nicotine in a cigarette. However, for the moment, the focus is on the smoker, even though more people depend on fast food then nicotine. It seems that eating fast food at an extensive rate, such as two, three, or even just once a week, causes more problems for the human body then smoking does, and certainly more problems then "second hand" smoke. Smoking will not make you obese, damage your liver, or create cholesterol problems.
