King Lear
In Shakespeare King Lear, we can see the motifs of honesty and nature help set the plot and are important to know them, so to understand in detail the play. Shakespeare's dark tragedy begins with the king of England, Lear, handing over his kingdom to his daughters Regan and Goneril, whom he believes truly love him. King Lear intends to stay with each daughter consecutively, accompanied by one hundred loyal knights. Angry that Cordelia his youngest daughter does not appear to love him as do Regan and Goneril, Lear banishes his youngest daughter Cordelia, and Kent, the servant who attempts to defend her. Cordelia leaves and is taken by the king France as his wife. Edmund, the illegitimate son of Gloucester, plans to have his elder brother Edgar's reputation ruined. Edmund tricks his father Gloucester into believing that
Goneril offends King Lear and dismisses fifty of his knights. The disrespectful Goneril conspires to have her guest and father, King Lear, driven out of her house. Honesty is an important element in King Lear because of all the treachery going on some people still hold their believes and keep loyalty and honesty. Because of his parents were not married, human law and nature were against him. In many plays of Shakespeare natural world reflected or mirrored whatever is going on on the play. I think that she is self-restrain and reserve that is all. After being banished by the king himself while trying to defend Cordelia, he comes back disguised to serve his king. He is just looking out for himself and sees nature as the opposite of people's goodness. Nature has introduced it self into the play by the characters and mirrors the outcome of the play. While in King Lear, Lear goes out into the storm after losing his manhood to his two daughters and nature once again is against him. In the scenes of Act I, Kent is one of the characters that shows the most frank personality. The entire play is "set in motion" by Lear's blind, foolish betrayal of Cordelia's love for him, which reinforces that at the heart of every betrayal lies an oblique set of values. He thinks that Human frailties come from nature. Lear starts to realize Cordelia wasnot so disrespectful. Edmund begins "Thou, Nature, art my goddess"(I 2, 1).
