Moderinizing Baseball: Good or Bad?

             The narrator, in W.P. Kinsella's "The Thrill of the Grass", has nostalgic memories of baseball in earlier time including the smell of the freshly cut grass. The horrifying fact that the game of baseball is changing from what it used to be a hundred years ago, to what it is now, has made the narrator uncomfortable and willing to speak out agaisnt it. Instead of having a man-made turf that has no cushion, the fields could have the original grass like it was in the early days of baseball. Every player will be considered equal and would be paid the same amounts of money and they would not be an asset, but rather a member of an organized team. Also, they have wrapped the baseballs tighter in order to increase the amount of homeruns hit.
             To play baseball, let alone any other sport, on sythetic turf is basically like playing on concrete. It is a very minute cushioning that you cant feel really at all and if one would happened to dive or slide in baseball, it would rub their skin right off and/or hurt them worse. It could almost be considered a danger playing on turf because of the risk of injury by falling or sliding. Grass, on the other hand, would be a lot better on the players because of its softness that the dirt beneath it provides. It would be easier on their legs, their arms, thighs, or whatever else it is possible to fall or slide on. It would reduce the chance of players becoming injured from the turf and also they would not complain as much if they would have something soft to help break their falls and sprinting.
             Not only is it outrageously awkward to play baseball on what feels like cement, but it doesn't even look real. It comes in different shades of green and sometimes looks as if it is blue grass. Although technically there is a such thing as blue grass, thats also man-made, why can't people just leave things the way they are supposed to be?
